Home   |   Who We Are  |       Where We Are   |       What We Care About   |       The Reading Room
The Saint David's community gathers for worship at 9:30 AM every Sunday to sing, listen to readings from the Bible, hear a sermon, pray, offer the blessing of God's Peace to one another, and celebrate the Lord's Supper with wine and home-baked bread.

There's usually Children's Church for the younger set, and children are always welcome to bring quiet toys and books.

Wednesdays at 6:30 PM a smaller group gathers for the Lord's Supper and quiet talk.

At both these services, we're saving a seat for you. Come and visit!

What We Care About

A few years ago we took strips of cloth and wrote on them the visions we have of the Kingdom of God - then we stitched them together into this rough banner, an unfinished banner for the unfinished kingdom that God is creating. If you want to know what kind of people we are - what we have on our minds - take a look.

Parish Outreach
Through our operating budget's category for Outreach, we're loyal supporters of Mother's Cupboard, a community program that gives a daily free supper and a sack of groceries to anyone who comes, no questions asked. We're helping with an after-school program in Brazil, supporting the worldwide work of the Episcopal Reloef and Developmet program, and giving to a long list of other projects. Regular gifts support the Episcopal Church's work in prisons, shelters for battered women, AIDS ministries, and disaster relief in Indiana and around the world. We also support outreach through our priest's discretionary funds and through our contribution to the Diocese of Indianapolis.

We share God's love for our neighbors through our participation in Brown County Habitat for Humanity, Earth Day and other conservation projects, Thanksgiving and Christmas food and gift drives, and visits to the Brown County Community Care Center. We are animal lovers who serve the Humane Society, tutors and mentors in schools and in the county jail, Friends of the Brown County Public Library, and Friends of Brown County State Park, and members of local service organizations - and we are always open to new ideas.

The Tithe Committee
At the beginning of our Capital Fund Drive in 2008, we agreed to tithe what we raised and set it aside for mission and outreach. Our Tithe Committee administers these funds, and so far we have distributed or designated about $43,000. The Tithe Committee at Saint David's has supported long term flood relief in Brown County, education projects in our companion dioceses of Brasilia and Bor in Sudan, Brown County High School performing arts departments, the Access Brown County van, Coats for Kids, GED tests for inmates in the Brown County Jail Literacy Program, Bloomington Interfaith Winter Shelter, Jackson Township Fire Dept., Haiti earthquake relief through Episcopal Relief and Development, and many small Mustard Seed Grants to projects chosen by individual parishioners. Our parish was honored to receive an Excellence in Stewardship Award at the 2009 General Convention of the Episcopal Church.

Tri-Parish Coalition
Saint David's has joined with Trinity, Bloomington and Saint Paul's, Columbus in a three-year commitment to resource our Diocese's companion Dioceses, the Diocese of Brasilia and the Diocese of Bor in Sudan. It has been a joy and a blessing to get to know visitors from Sudan and Brazil. Here, Bishop Mauricio Andrade presides at Saint David's on the day of the Groundbreaking for our building addition in June, 2009.
